New cashless ‘Pay on Exit’ parking system
Visitors will soon benefit from a new, simplified parking system that will make trips easier and more convenient. The introduction of a cashless ‘Pay on Exit’ parking system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology removes the need for physical tickets or pay and display machines, making parking quicker and easier for visitors.
Under the new system, a vehicle’s number plate will automatically be recorded when entering the car park. Parking charges will then be calculated based on the length of the visit, with customers paying before leaving the site.
All visitors will receive a 30-minute grace period, meaning short visits remain free if you’re just popping in briefly or dropping someone off. After this time, standard parking tariffs will apply. Parking charges will operate 7 days a week between 7am-6pm, with prices starting at £2 for up to 2 hours, rising to £3.50 for up to 5 hours. Blue badge holders will follow the same tariff structure.
There will be several cashless ways to pay, including touchscreen payment machines inside the centre, QR code ScanPay options throughout the car park, online via the APCOA Connect website or app, the QwikPark app, or by phone.

Visitors are advised that the wider car park around Xscape is split into two differently managed areas.
The Xscape car park, managed by APCOA, is located closest to the building and is marked by blue-lined bays. The surrounding purple-lined bays are operated by the local council and have separate payment machines. Make sure you check signage carefully to ensure you’re using the correct payment system for their parking space.
We’re excited to introduce these new developments, which will make parking easier, more convenient and affordable. These improvements are all about helping visitors enjoy a smooth start to their visit and ensuring they have a great day out at Xscape.
